Paste any public IP address (or click Use my IP) to instantly see its PTR (reverse DNS) hostname. Queries are run against neutral public resolvers (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and Google 8.8.8.8) so the answer matches what the rest of the internet sees, not what your local DNS happens to cache.
Features
- IPv4 and IPv6 - Same one-box experience for both address families. Pasting
https://1.1.1.1/fooor[2001:4860::]:443just works — the host is extracted automatically. - All PTR records - Some IPs have more than one PTR record. We list them all instead of just the first.
- Public resolvers - Lookups run against 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 so the answer is independent of your local DNS configuration.
- Friendly empty state - When an IP has no PTR record, the tool tells you that clearly instead of showing an error.
- One-click copy - Grab any hostname to clipboard for pasting into a ticket, terminal or Slack message.
- 100% Free - No account required for limited use.
Tip: Private IPs (10.x, 192.168.x, 127.0.0.1, ::1, fe80::) and other reserved ranges are rejected — they have no global PTR mapping. Use a public IP to get a meaningful result.
